About Me

I have been a family lawyer for over twenty-two years. Originally licensed in Massachusetts in 1986, I was later admitted to practice in New Hampshire in 1988, and have been practicing here ever since. Soon after coming to New Hampshire I became a certified guardian ad litem, and have been involved in representing the best interests of children in hundreds of cases over the past twenty years.

I have also had significant court room experience as a litigator. I have tried many cases over the years, representing both men and women alike. Although I believe strongly that litigating a case should be a last resort, I am aware that there are circumstances in which it can not be avoided, and am confident and successful when presenting cases to the court.

In 1997 I began mediation training, initially in a 60 hour program with the City of Nashua. I have also had training through the Hillsborough County Superior Court, and volunteer as a Rule 170 mediator for the Superior Court. Most recently, I have participated in a 40 hour mediation training program through Alternatives in Keene, New Hampshire. I have also been trained as a Collaborative Lawyer, and offer alternative forms of dispute resolution including mediation and collaborative law as part of my law practice. I feel strongly that it is part of my job as a legal advisor to emphasize the importance of moving through the divorce process with a minimum of conflict in order to maximize the long term success of the post divorce relationship, particularly where children are involved.

My interests extend beyond the law, and I am co-owner of Amherst Yoga. Click here to visit. I am a wife and mother. I believe in the power of having a vision, pursuing it, and bringing it to fruition. In the summer of 2008 I rode my motor scooter to Atlanta, Georgia, raising over $18,000 for breast cancer research. Click here to read my blog.

Discourage Litigation
Persuade your neighbors to compromise
whenever you can.
Point out to them how the nominal winner
Is often the real loser-
In fees, expenses and waste of time.
As a peacemaker
The lawyer has a superior opportunity of
Being a good man.
Never stir up up litigation.
A worse man can scarcely found
Than one who does this.
